SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONSFeaturesHow your dishwasher cleans

The dishwasher fills with water, covering the filter area at thebottom. Water is then pumped through the various filter and sprayarms, spraying a mixture of hot water and detergent against thesoiled surfaces of your dishes and silverware. Soil particles areseparated and go down the drain as the dirty water is drained andreplaced with clean water. The number of water fills is determinedby the cycle selected.

Wash cycle selectionsCycle times are approximate and will varywith options selected. Hot water is necessary to activatedishwasher detergent and melt fatty food soils.

An automatic sensor checks the incoming water temperature and,if it is not hot enough, the timer will be delayed to allow for thewater to heat for the main wash of all cycles.

Filter systemYour dishwasher has a multiple filter system whichincludes four separate filter meshes. It separates dirty water andclean water into different chambers. The multiple filter systemhelps your dishwasher to get better performance with less water andless energy.

Smart wash systemYour dishwasher has a smart wash system underthe normal wash program which selects the wash cycle based on howlarge and how soiled the load is, permitting your dishwasher toclean more efficiently every time. When a partial load of lightlysoiled dishes is placed in the unit, a short wash cycle isautomatically selected. When a full load of heavily soiled dishesis placed in the unit, a heavy wash cycle is automaticallyselected.

Adjustable upper rackThe upper rack of your dishwasher can beraised or lowered to accommodate loading dishes of varying heightsin either rack. The upper rack clearance height can be adjustedfrom 8" to 10" (20 to 25 cm). The lower rack clearance height canbe adjusted from 11" to 13" (28 to 33 cm). See "Loading the upperrack" on page 9.

Filling the rinse aid dispenserYour dishwasher is designed touse a liquid rinse aid. The use of a rinse aid greatly improvesdrying performance after the final rinse. 2 Add rinse aid until the liquid touches the indicated filllevel. Do not overfill since this can cause over-sudsing. Wipe upany spills with a damp cloth. The dispenser holds enough for 35 to140 washes, depending on the dial setting.

3 Replace the cap and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise.

    Factors affecting performanceUsing rinse aid

Rinse aid greatly improves drying and reduces water spots andfilming. Without rinse aid, your dishes and dishwasher interiorwill have excessive moisture. In addition, the heated dry optionwill not perform as well without rinse aid. The rinse aiddispenser, located next to the detergent cup, automaticallyreleases a measured amount of rinse aid during the last rinse.

If spotting and poor drying is a problem, increase the amount ofrinse aid dispensed by rotating the dial to a higher number. Thedial is located under the dispenser cap.

If the rinse aid is low, the rinse aid light turns on at thebeginning and end of the cycle indicating that it is time torefill. Refer to "Filling the rinse aid dispenser" on page 10.

Water temperatureHot water is required for optimum dish washingand drying results. Water entering the dishwasher should be atleast 120° F (49° C) to achieve satisfactory results.

To check the water temperature entering the dishwasher:1 Turn onthe hot water faucet near the dishwasher and let it run for severalminutes.2 Hold a thermometer (a candy or meat thermometer willwork) in the water stream to check the temperature. If the

temperature is below 120° F (49° C), have a qualified personraise the hot water heater thermostat setting.

Heat dry functionThe heat dry function, when used with a rinseaid, enhances drying performance. If you do not choose the heat dryfunction, items in your load that will not be completely dry at theend of the cycle.

Water pressureFor optimum performance, the hot water supply linefor your dishwasher must provide water pressure of at least 20 psi(138 kPa) and not more than 120 psi (828 kPa). You may experiencelow water pressure during high-demand periods, such as when laundryor showers are in use while you are washing the dishes. Toeliminate this problem, wait until hot water demand is reducedbefore starting the dishwasher.

Important: To make sure that the water entering the dishwasheris hot, run hot water from the nearest hot water faucet to clearcool water from the pipe before starting the cycle.

FAQs

How do you use a top control dishwasher? ›

On a top control dishwasher, the start and cycle buttons are on top of the door and not usually visible when the door is closed. With this configuration, you will select your cycle and push start with the door open, close the dishwasher door and wait for the dishwasher to start.

Is it better to have top control or front control dishwasher? ›

YOU MAY PREFER TOP CONTROL OVER FRONT CONTROL DISHWASHERS IF: You don't like to see your dishwasher's control panel. You like a seamless and modern appearance. You want an external handle that can be used to hang your hand towels.

Are top control dishwashers more expensive? ›

Since the buttons are tucked into the top of the dishwasher door, there may not be room for easy-to-see buttons you can read without squinting or grabbing your glasses. The buttons face up, so at least you won't have to bend your neck to see them. Top-control models cost more.

How far should a dishwasher stick out from the cabinet? ›

Another important measurement to consider when installing your dishwasher is how much space to leave between the dishwasher and a cabinet. Leave 2 inches of space between the dishwasher and cabinet to ensure both the cabinet door and the dishwasher door can swing open without catching on each other.

What are the best dishwashers with the least problems? ›

As a leader in home and kitchen appliances, it's no surprise that Bosch dishwashers top many reliability reports. With over 50 years dedicated to dishwasher durability and engineering, Bosch builds dishwashing machines to last a minimum of 10 years.

What are the benefits of a top control dishwasher? ›

TOP CONTROL DISHWASHER: PROS

The minimalist design is modern and sleek, making your kitchen feel current and on-trend. The hidden control panel's flat surface is smooth and easy to clean.

Is it cheaper to just buy a new dishwasher? ›

Consider all relevant factors—repair cost, age, usage and replacement cost—when making your dishwasher repair/replace decision. Unless your dishwasher is on its very last leg, you'll often find that it's more economical to repair it rather than replacing it.

Are all 24 inch dishwashers the same size? ›

Most standard dishwashers will fit a cabinet opening that is 24 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 35 inches high. Some manufacturers offer dishwashers in multiple widths, and there can be slight variations in the depth and height. Measuring before you buy lets you feel confident that your new appliance will fit.

How far away can a dishwasher be from the sink? ›

A. Mike Casey, a licensed plumbing contractor and co-author of Code Check Plumbing, responds: Most dishwashers come from the factory with a 6-foot 6-inch drain hose, and nearly all manufacturers allow this hose to be extended to a maximum total length of between 10 and 12 feet.

How many inches off the floor should the dishwasher be? ›

Step 3. Measure for dishwasher height. Measure from the floor of the opening in which the dishwasher will be installed to the lowest point of the countertop. Most dishwashers require a 34 1/2–36-inch tall opening.

Why do dishwashers have top control? ›

Benefits: ✅ Minimalist design: The top control panel gives the dishwasher a cleaner, seamless look because there's no buttons or displays on the front. ✅ Childproof: With the controls on the top, children are less likely to accidentally press buttons or change settings.

How do table top dishwashers work? ›

The water inlet allows water to enter the dishwasher, which is then heated to the appropriate temperature for optimal cleaning. The detergent dispenser releases cleaning agents into the water, while the spray arms distribute the water and detergent mixture to your dishes.
