A Kite On the Wind (Mended Hearts Book 3) by Patricia Lee
4.5 Stars
A Kite on the Wind is another novel by Patricia Lee with adorable children, a hurting hero and heroine, and a budding romance. And this time, readers get an extra-large dose of the adorable with twins.
Lee has a knack for writing stories filled with emotion as well as great information about topics you might not know much about. This particular book gives readers an insider view of whale migration from Alaska to California and the NOAA employees who follow them to
record their numbers. And if that weren’t enough education, there’s also plenty in there about kidney transplants and donors. But this story shines because of its characters. A widowed father grieving for his wife, a lonely teacher with a heart of gold, to hurting children whose lives have been upended, and another sweet little girl all make this story heart deep. I also appreciate how the romance in these books develop over time (more than a year in this novel).
The series may have concluded, but I’ll be on the lookout for more wonderfully emotional reads from this author.

Love Calls Her Home (Mended Hearts Book 2) by Patricia Lee
While Love Calls Her Home is the second book in the Mended Hearts series, it completely stands on its own. The characters in the previous book make cameos but a new hero and heroine, as well as a new setting in a different part of Oregon, set this story apart from An Anchor for Her Heart.
Patricia Lee delivers another heart-wrenching tale of loss, love, and healing. This time, readers get to meet eleven-year-old Jayden.
Jayden, Lissa, and Kurt have all experienced painful
losses in their lives and each of them deals with their grief in different ways. Together, these three hurting hearts find their way to each other.Add in the rescue horse operation and a rollercoaster ride of emotion with Jayden’s mother and stepfather, and this was another story that was hard to put down.
I didn’t connect with these characters as much as I did with those in the first book, but Love Calls Her Home was still well worth the read.

An Anchor on Her Heart (Mended Hearts) (Volume 1) by Patricia Lee
4.5 Stars
When I read the synopsis of this book, I wondered how the author was going to pull it off. A married woman who hasn’t seen her husband in months and a hero who isn’t that husband?
Y’all, Patricia Lee managed to not only surprise me but did so without making any one of the people involved the bad guy (or gal). Perhaps that’s because, at its heart, this book is about the love between friends and the sacrifices made for those you care about.
I felt McKenna’s
loneliness and frustration as a single parent raising a child with autism. Lee puts the readers in the situation as they experience the challenges and need for answers right alongside McKenna.Rudy and his mother’s experiences with autism make them such great resources and support for McKenna and Sydney. And just like Rudy, I couldn’t help but fall in love with this sweet little girl.
An Anchor On Her Heart yanked on my heartstrings while leaving me content with the way everything worked out.
