The History of Lemonade:

Lemonade refers to an uncarbonated mixture of lemon juice, sugar and water.

  • Lemonade was invented in 1630 in Paris.
  • Despite its Parisian roots, lemonade in Europe is quite different nowadays – it’s carbonated, meaning it is carbonated sweet lemon flavored soft drink.
  • Lemonade is called “lemonade” and not “lemon juice” like “orange juice”; because it is a mixture of lemon juice, sugar and water, which is why it’s called “lemonade.” Orange juice and apple juice mixed with water and sugar could be called orangeade.
